Coreless Direct Drive Motor – The Heart of Precision

The SL-1000R features a newly developed double-coil twin-rotor coreless direct drive motor with 12-pole, 18-coil drive. This advanced design delivers sufficient torque to drive the heavyweight 7.9kg platter while achieving 0.015% wow and flutter – at the measurement limit of precision.

Coils positioned on both sides, offset 60 degrees, improve substrate rigidity and suppress fine vibrations while reducing self-inductance. Special engineering plastic thrust bearings provide both high rigidity and long-term reliability.

Heavyweight 7.9kg Platter – Inertial Mass Perfection

The 3-layer platter construction positions tungsten weights on the outer periphery of a 10mm brass weight, laminated onto aluminum die-cast. This creates approximately 1 ton·cm of inertial mass with deadening rubber on the rear surface for exceptional vibration damping.
