Design & Technology
Your first listen will tell you that the Alumine Two is no ordinary compact two-way loudspeaker. Stenheim started by questioning the fundamental thinking, technological choices, and materials behind conventional designs — and arrived at some surprising conclusions:
- A 6.5" bass-mid driver with a sophisticated, treated paper cone — chosen for musical truth over measured flattery.
- A fabric dome tweeter, carefully horn-loaded for increased efficiency and seamless integration.
- A high-order, phase-coherent crossover that preserves the fragile but all-important temporal and spatial information in the stereo signal.
- A thin-wall aluminium cabinet built with hidden fixings and golden-ratio dimensions — critically damped to eliminate resonance without killing musical dynamics.
- Low-volume damping materials that kill cabinet resonance and internal standing waves while keeping the music alive.
The result is a speaker that is literally bigger on the inside than it appears — its thin-wall aluminium enclosure maximises internal volume compared to thick-wall wooden cabinets.
