Any great line-stage needs to be the next best \u003cbr\u003ething to sonically and musically invisible, the hi-fi equivalent \u003cbr\u003eof effortlessly enacting its own audio superpower.\u003cbr\u003eLike all CH Precision products, the L1 uses a fully discrete, balanced \u003cbr\u003eand complementary design, ultra-short signal paths and exactly select componentsed. It is fed from heavily regulated  \u003cbr\u003eand filtered power supplies, is wide-bandwidth, high slew-rate\u003cbr\u003eand DC coupled. But in this critical application, that’s not enough. \u003cbr\u003eIt’s one thing to eliminate unnecessary components from the\u003cbr\u003esignal path and eliminate DC offset at the inputs, but the L1 takes \u003cbr\u003ethings much, much further than that. Completely separate left \u003cbr\u003eand right channel circuit boards prevent crosstalk, while a super\u003cbr\u003esophisticated, software-driven R-software-driven each channel\u003cbr\u003eemploys precision metal-film resistors and allows a precise level \u003cbr\u003econtrol in 0.5dB steps with the minimum possible number of \u003cbr\u003ecomponents. DC offset is monitored and eliminated not only in the inputs but throughout the volume control ladder and at \u003cbr\u003emultiple points throughout the entire circuit. That makes the \u003cbr\u003eL1 not just one of the quietest line-stages ever built, it makes \u003cbr\u003eIt's one of the quietest in operation, too. \u003cbr\u003eFor a company that is renowned for the flexibility and \u003cbr\u003econfigurable nature of its products, it is ironic that one of our \u003cbr\u003emost musically vital components is also our least adaptable. \u003cbr\u003eAlthough the L1 line-stage has an inherently modular \u003cbr\u003etopology, it offers only line-level inputs and comes fully \u003cbr\u003eloaded as standard. But that doesn’t mean that the L1 isn’t \u003cbr\u003escalable and upgradable, with the option to add a second \u003cbr\u003echassis for true-monaural operation and one or two X1s \u003cbr\u003eexternal power supplies. Of course, the L1 is fully controllable \u003cbr\u003evia the CH-Control App; its inputs can be labeled, you can set \u003cbr\u003eoverall gain as well as individual input offsets, and you can \u003cbr\u003eeven select a DC blocking capacitor on any input if necessary. \u003cbr\u003eBut at heart, in terms of signal transfer the L1 is as stripped \u003cbr\u003edown and pure as it can possibly be.
