Analog Source: Cartridges

Lyra Etna SL now in stock.  Stock at $9995.00 Awesome on Technics Sl-1000R and Brinkmann Spyder and Brinkmann Balance Tables.

LYRA ETNA SL (Currently shipping "Single Layer" low-impedance, low-output model)

This is a special, built-to-order, version of Etna for expert users with very high-gain, extra low noise phono stages, or alternatively a step-up transformer designed for phono cartridges of 2 - 3 ohms or less.
Most users (and phono stages) will benefit from the regular Etna with much higher output and considerably more energy; resulting in a much better signal-to-noise ratio. If you are in doubt about which version of Etna that will work best in your system, please go with the regular Etna.
The Etna SL may provide extra pure and pristine sound from an audio system that is optimized for a low-impedance, low-output cartridge. However, this may be accompanied with a lesser level of energy and power.
Lyra nevertheless has decided to offer SL models, as built-to-order at a 10% surcharge, for those who are confident that they can extract the benefits from such a low-output MC phono cartridge.

Ortofon Windfeld ti  always in stock. My favorite with Technics SL-1000R and some Brinkmann tables too.

The MC Windfeld Ti - a moving coil phono cartridge in the absolute high-end class
At the heart of the MC Windfeld Ti lies a revolutionary customized Selective Laser Melting manufacturing technology pioneered by Ortofon for manufacturing of the legendary MC A90 in 2008. The use of Titanium in the MC Windfeld Ti has provided a further improvement to the overall rigidity of the structure and the cartridge weight.
Our extensive knowledge of vibration properties, characteristics in different shapes and materials, competences in magnetism, mechanical design and new technologies has been applied for optimization of the MC Windfeld model. The MC Windfeld Ti has gone to the next level by reducing unwanted vibrations and increasing the dynamic capability of the cartridge.
Those who choose to adopt the MC Windfeld Ti will experience the lifelike, dynamic and open sound, with exceedingly clear midrange. The MC Windfeld Ti remains extremely musical while paying close attention to micro dynamic details, with its delicate, but also analytical nature.

Brinkmann Pi Cartridge. Limited Edition now available in stock. New $2750.00 This cartridge is a steal. Get some specials when purchased with Brinkmann Turntables.

The cartridge »Pi« has been developed together with our tonearms. With an ingenious mounting of the different parts, the case is highly resonance optimized and with its dynamic mass corresponds perfectly with our tonearms. Due to its neutrality it complements most other tonearms as well.

On the »Pi« cartridge we decided to use a Micro Ridge stylus, which has the best resolution in the fi nest recorded details and which guarantees for the most reliability. Naturally sounding in the midrange with good fl exibility it gives a big room imaging in three-dimensionality on the highest level of top cartridges

The stylus is mounted on a boron cantilever and drives a copper voice coil. Most attention was given to the rigidity of the magnetic circuit to prevent eddy currents. The MC cartridge has a similar output voltage as our EMT-ti. By this it drives preamp inputs in their best dynamic range. Due to its relatively high output voltage even on quite insensitive inputs the smallest signals will not be lost in the noise fl oor. The cartridge works perfectly on loads of 600 Ohms and matches best to our phono preamps. The cartridge has an own mass of 14 grams which leads to a high trackability with a tracking force of 1.8 to 2.0 ponds. The »Pi« will be delivered with special screws that optimize the coupling to the headshell.

»Dynamics, fine and coarse structures, dimensionality - all that is on a very high level. So we immediately grow fond of the new cartridge. It plays very close to the top references and it‘s the recommendation for everyone who wants to listen on a very high level without spending a huge sum of money. The Pi is a strong opener and a luminating sign to the analogue passion of the Brinkmann products - not only for their own turntables.

Sound quality
With the correct level set, the Ortofon reveals itself to be a highly distinctive yet talented performer. This most clearly manifests itself as a slightly dark tonal balance that helps it to sound refined and powerful...
...What is interesting is that the tonal balance doesn’t restrict the energy at the top end of the frequency response...
...This is a very big and effortless-sounding cartridge....
...Vocals are given presence and detail, but without losing their relationship to the supporting musicians...
